Daddy quickly realized that the snow was a bit too dry to build much, but we were determined. Leyton was not sure really how to move about in all of his layers, and so he sort of teetered over accidentally shortly after trying to take a step in the snow. Once he realized how fun it was to throw himself into the snow, it wasn't long before he started rolling around in it and the snow was covering him. He thought it was so fun! Trying to keep his gloves on proved to be the hardest part, but he loved every minute of being outside. We didn't last too terribly long, but our snowman is still standing (all of 10-inches tall!)
Later that Saturday evening, we got to have dinner with Aunt Wee Wee for her birthday. Leyton had so much fun visiting Wee- Wee and Uncle G, Grandma and Papa. He ate "freddy" (spaghetti), bread dipped in olive oil, and crackers with cheese dip. It was a great dinner, and he really enjoyed seeing his Wee on her birthday. Grandma even brought him a sticker book!
Wee -Wee, Leyton said he can't wait to hear what Dirty Jimmy thinks of Peter. (Peter is the rubber lizard that Leyton gave to Wee-Wee for her birthday. He saw "Peter" at Target and wanted to get it to give to Wendy so that Dirty Jimmy could have a friend at school!) We came home after dinner, and Leyton crashed - it was well past his bedtime. He was a worn out little guy.
.....
Daddy left this morning for Los Angeles for a work trip. And, since Leyton had a tough time the last time daddy left for an out-of-town trip, we decided to sit Leyton down and talk with him this time about daddy going away on a trip. He definitely understands that daddy is not here, even though it has just been about a half-day so far. It is funny the things that children pick up on. We kept buys this afternoon after daddy left, though; and, we have been carrying a picture of daddy around with us and talking about him a lot. Leyton just says "Daddy be right back."
Leyton really misses his daddy, but he has a big week ahead at school (it is School Spirit Week!) and so we are hoping that this will keep us busy and keep the week moving fast. Just in case you are reading, we love you, daddy!
